ASMAC Reinforces Discipline

ASMAC Reinforces Discipline

The Advanced School of Mass Communication (ASMAC) has intensified its disciplinary measures. The administration now strictly punishes indecent dressing, extravagance, lateness, and absenteeism.

Strict Enforcement Surprises Students

These measures, amplified at the start of the second semester, have left many students stunned. In a recent high-profile case, the administration ordered Level 3 Journalism students to cut off their long braids. Officials stated they no longer tolerate long braids or colored hair on campus.

Glory Ama, a Level 3 Journalism student, had to cut her « birthday hair » following these administrative instructions.

Four other students faced similar consequences, cutting their braids to comply with the code.

Monitoring Attendance and Punctuality

During Monday assemblies, the administration conducts roll calls to identify and sanction latecomers. Discipline masters guard campus entrances, preventing late students from entering until the roll call concludes.

To combat absenteeism, staff members conduct roll calls twice daily. The Secretary-General, Mr. Assomo, leads a disciplinary team through the classrooms each morning and afternoon to cross-check student attendance and ensure no one leaves early.

Cracking Down on Dress Code and Grooming

The administration maintains tight control over student attire. Staff members regularly send home students wearing jeans, T-shirts, or short and tight-fitting clothes, instructing them to dress professionally.

Recently, the crackdown expanded to include piercings and artificial nails. In some instances, staff members now cut off artificial nails on the spot rather than simply sending the student home.

A Reminder of the Rules

The Director, Prof. François Marc Modzom, emphasized that these reinforced measures are not new. The school outlined these policies in the official rules and regulations presented to every student upon admission.

Director Modzom further announced that the school will summon any student caught violating these rules to the disciplinary council. Additionally, the administration may refuse to process the formal complaints of students with active disciplinary records.
