NACOMEC 2026: 700 Voices Raise a Song of Peace

The city of Yaounde became a hub of spiritual melody this week as the National Combined English Choir (Nacomec) of the Cameroon Baptist Convention (CBC) hosted its annual Come-Together.

Nearly 1000 choristers from across five regions of Cameroon, including areas like Oku, Nso, Nkambe, Buea, Douala, Bamenda, Belo, Ndu, Yaounde, Tiko, and Limbe, gathered at Etoug-Ebe Baptist Church to promote the gospel of peace through choral excellence.

The three-day event, under the theme, Living the Gospel of Peace, » began on Thursday, April 23, with vibrant rehearsals as singers filled the air with worship and colorful displays of unity. However, the gathering extended far beyond the church walls.

On the second day, the choir transitioned into intensive live recordings and community outreach. Embodying their theme of peace, the members visited the Cardinal Paul Émile Léger National Centre for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. They also visited local orphanages and elderly sick Christians, and provided support to internally displaced persons within the Etoug-Ebe community.

Choristers and guests say they were immensely blessed. Atoh Philemon, a member from Douala, said the concert was wonderful,  » I have been a member of Nacomec for over 11 years and I can say that this is the best concert we have ever hosted. »

Emmaculate Yafe, a guest, also shared how impactful the event was for him. « I used to sing but I stopped since I came to Yaounde. After experiencing this mega concert, I have been encouraged to go back to singing in the choir, » she noted.

Held under the high patronage of Professor Linda Yang, the concert provided a forum for Nacomec to raise funds for their upcoming projects.

To ensure that participants traveling from distant regions could return home for Sunday morning services, organizers concluded the event promptly at 6:30 PM.

As the voices of the mass choir faded, the message of NACOMEC remained clear: through quality music and a commitment to harmony, the gospel continues to thrive in the heart of Cameroon.
